Eligibility for the Post of Assistant Professor in Botany

Candidates must possess a strong academic record with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade at the Master’s Degree level in the relevant subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from a recognized foreign university.

The National Eligibility Test (NET) or State Level Eligibility Test (SET) is a mandatory requirement for the appointment as an Assistant Professor. However, candidates who have been awarded a Ph.D. degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009, are exempted from this requirement for recruitment and appointment as Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in colleges.

Additionally, knowledge of Konkani is essential. Possessing a Ph.D. or M.Phil. in the relevant subject and knowledge of Marathi are desirable qualifications.

*A relaxation of 5% marks may be provided at the graduate and master’s level for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PwD categories to determine eligibility and assess a good academic record during direct recruitment to teaching positions.

**Note: If suitable candidates from the PwD category are not available, the equivalent number of posts will remain vacant for candidates from the General category.
